Scholarship Awards through the IMGS

If you are interested in applying for scholarship funds which will cover your registration fees for the main meeting, the student symposium, and the Bioinformatics workshop as well as half a twin hotel room for 5 nights, please send an email request by July 15, 2013, to Darla Miller at millerdr@med.unc.edu.

In the e-mail, please include your name, address, the name of your laboratory head, your position (student or post-doc), and a copy of  your abstract. Please be sure that you specify that your abstract is to be considered for the student conference when submitting your abstract within the submission system.

In addition, please register on this site and choose "Direct bill" in the payment section and you will not need to pay when you register.  Finances can be sorted out after the scholarship awards are given.  You should ALSO submit your abstract on line by the deadline.


As in previous years, you must be an International Mammalian Genome Society member to receive financial aid. The membership rate for students and post-docs with paper copy of the journal, Mammalian Genome is US $49 per calendar year and US $30 for students and post-docs who do not wish to receive the journal. To become a member, you can apply at http://www.imgs.org. Applications for membership and aid can be processed simultaneously.

Scholarship Awards through the COST Action SYSGENET

The COST Action SYSGENET (BM 0901) will support the attendance of young scientists from COST countries (http://www.cost.eu/about_cost/cost_countries). Interested applicants are invited to submit their application with the following required documents until July 27, 2013 by email to Heike Kollmus Heike.Kollmus@helmholtz-hzi.de:

  • CV (including name, gender, laboratory address, name of laboratory head)
  • copy of your abstract and brief motivation letter (max half a page)
  • proof of student status (scanned version of a certificate or letter signed by the laboratory head or a copy of the student ID card)

Selection will be based on academic merit and research potential. Successful candidates will receive a set amount of support for their travel expenses after the meeting and confirmed attendance.
